Subcision on temples and forehead? Could they hit a nerve?

I have rolling acne scars on both and am supposed to do this procedure - am concerned about hitting facial nerves . Is this a no go zone or can a skilled plastic surgeon totally avoid hitting the nerve?

In my opinion, find a expert who deals with acne scarring on a regular basis. It it is common to raise the area with anesthetic to avoid involving the nerves. Subcision is a safe and effective treatment for tethered acne scars when performed by a experienced practitioner.

Subcision is relatively superficial and should not damage facial nerves. If you remain concerned, I recommend following up with your practitioner. Keep in mind, rolling scars need a combination of subcision with lasers, microneedling/prp, Cosmelan and fillers to get the most improvement. Best, Dr. Emer

There are indeed nerves in this area and this would be considered a danger zone in my practice. There are safe areas within these zones but I would recommend discussing this with the surgeon who plans to do the procedure.
