How old should you be to receive a chemical peel?

I have been dealing with dark spots on my face and arms since i was a child. I have used countless products and I've made sure to use sunscreen everyday but the spots just seem to never go away completely. I am 17 years old and i want to know what is the age you should be in order to receive a chemical peel to get rid of discoloration.

Chemical peels can certainly
be performed on patients your age. 
Actually, 17 is a common age to start. 
I applaud you for applying sunscreen daily.  As you know the sun is one of the major factors contributing to skin discoloration.  In this
particular situation, medical grade products that are found in a physician's office will give you much better results than creams found in retail/drug stores. My
suggestion would be to get a medical consultation.  The discoloration may be minimized and
prevented with as little as a hydroquinone cream. 
As with anything, I medical consultation is recommended for the best
treatment plan.

Thank you for your question. You can receive a peel treatment as long as you have a parent to sign consents for you. I would recommend speaking with a aesthetician or laser technician. Depending on what type of dark spots you have will determine the type of treatment that is appropriate for you. Also as I do not have much information on the dark spots its hard to say but when dealing with pigmentation it is very important that you wear sunscreen all the time to avoid having the dark spots come back.
