Eyebrow regrowth after injury? (Photo)

I fell over and grazed my eyebrow with a slight laceration almost a month ago. Attached are photos of the injury when it happened and now, I am seeing very minimal regrowth, will it regrow at all and what is the expected timeframe?

I’m really sorry that happened—facial injuries, especially around the eyebrows, can feel very noticeable and stressful. The good news is that in many cases, eyebrow hair can grow back, but the timeline and outcome depend on how deep the injury was.

From what you described—being about a month out with minimal regrowth—this can still fall within a normal healing window. Hair growth often lags behind skin healing. Even when the surface looks healed, the hair follicles underneath may still be recovering.

Here’s how to think about it:

1. If the hair follicles were not permanently damaged
Then regrowth is very likely. Eyebrow hairs typically grow slowly, and it can take 6–12 weeks (or sometimes longer) to start seeing more noticeable regrowth.

2. If there was deeper injury or scarring
If the laceration affected the deeper layer of the skin where the follicles live, there’s a possibility of partial or permanent hair loss in that specific area. A scar can sometimes prevent hair from growing through it.

3. The current stage (1 month out)
At this point, it’s honestly still early. Seeing only minimal regrowth doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t come back—it just means your follicles may still be in a recovery phase.

What you can do right now:

Be very gentle with the area—avoid picking or irritation

Keep the skin moisturized to support healing

Give it more time before assuming permanent loss

When to reassess:
If by around 3–4 months you’re still not seeing meaningful regrowth, that’s when it becomes more likely that some follicles were affected, and you may notice a thinner patch or gap.

Try not to be discouraged just yet—eyebrow regrowth is often slower than expected, but it does happen in many cases.

Hello and thank you for your question. You should see some regrowth about 3 months after your injury but could be up to 6 months. You try topical Minoxidil and that should help with the regrowth process. Best of luck to you.

This is another form of telogen effluvium, triggered by a traumatic injury to the eyebrow resulting in hair loss, followed by the initiation of a new hair cycle. Typically, you should begin to notice some hair growth around 3 months after the injury, but it may take up to 6 months to fully assess whether there has been any regrowth. In the meantime, you can apply 2.5-5% topical minoxidil to the eyebrow twice daily to expedite the regrowth process.
