Do you have experience with Sculptra injected in front of ears to improve slightly flaccid jowl?

Question

Principle is the same as facelift, as explained to me. Sculptra inected in front of ear plumps up that area that lifts tissue lower on face, including jobs. All I see in the literature is nasolabial fold indication. Thank you.

I completely agree with the responses of the doctors below. Jowls are best treated with surgery. I usually do fat grafting to the sides of the cheeks after the lower face surgery to give a rather fuller look to the face and that helps to enhance the cheek bones. laser treatments can provide additional improvement in skin texture and tightening.

Treating the preauricular area with Sculptra will not necessarily "lift" the soft tissue in the jowl, but it does improve the highlights and shadows of the lower third of the face to give the appearance of youth and rejuvenation.  Sculptra can be used to treat the pre-jowl sulcus (depression in front of the jowls) to also soften the appearance of the jowls.

It sometimes is possible to inject Sculptra (or other fillers) in parts of the face to help with jowls.  Generally speaking, using fillers will not affect the jowls as much as treating them with surgery, but sometimes fillers do help enough in the right patient.

Part of the routine areas of injection for Sculptra is the preauricular area.  There is loss of volume in this area related to loss of fat that is contiguous with the temple fat pad.  Injecting this area does pull up skin from below and defines the jaw line better and rounds out the face.  Helping the jowls is probably not going to happen that much.
