Should I see a tattoo removal tech for my Melasma? (Photo)

Melasma can be very difficult to treat.  It is often very reactive to heat.  Our melasma protocol is to use a low pulse count with the Flat lens and keep the surface cool with our chiller unit.  We retreat every 4 weeks for 3-6 treatments.  I hope this helps.
 

Hi!  I would not recommend a technician who primarily does tattoo removal for your melasma.  Melasma is a completely different beast.  It is a challenging condition to treat effectively.  In the wrong hands, the laser will actually STIMULATE more melanocytes, bringing out more pigment and spots.   To treat melasma, I actually recommend multiple modalities such as a consistent, potent daily skincare regimen targeted to treat melasma, chemical peels and PicoSure laser. Best, Dr. Huo
