Will I lose my natural hair if I stop minoxidil?

Question

I have been using minoxidil for 1 year,but stopped before 3 month since i felt that it didnt work for me.i know that if i stop minoxidil,i will loose hair regrown because of minoxidil. My query is that will i loose my natural hair if i stop minoxidil since minoxidil is applied to natural hair also. I feel like i am loosing natural hair too

There are three reasons for hair loss after stopping minoxidil no just one. As you have stated, when one stops minoxidil, the hair that was grown is lost in 6-9 months. However there are 2 other reasons that can not be ignored. Hair that would have been lost were in not for minoxidil use is also lost and finally the balding process simply continues.

If you have been using minoxidil for a year and have developed minoxidil dependent hairs with this drug, then stopping it will cause you to lose those hairs

Thank you for your question. You are correct that you will lose the new hair growth caused by minoxidil, however, you're least likely to lose your regular natural hair. With that being said, you can still lose regular hair growth based on your underlying condition causing hair loss.
