Trigeminal neuralgia and rhinoplasty

It is quite possible that your neuralgia symptoms may intensify before and for some time after surgery due to related stress. It should not leave any consequences to nose surgery result. Good luck.

Hello,Your concern is valid as the stimulation from surgery, especially of the face can trigger trigeminal neuralgia. It's not a contraindication but something that can cause pain and discomfort. Dental procedures stimulate the 3rd branch of the trigeminal nerve, and they are performed on patients with trigeminal neuralgia. There really is no telling if it will trigger or not. If you would like to mitigate your chances, talk to your neurologist. They might recommend a preventative medication (ie gabapentin) that you can start well before the procedure to lower the risk of triggering the nerve. Good luck!
