Hello, I had a sliding genioplasty 3 years ago and my lower teeth have been hurting, especially this past year. They are tight and hurt ( like dull toothache ) My lower gums feel a bit tight too. Could this be from scar tissue in the chin or under the incision? Or will it be nerve damage? Any help appreciated.

Both the procedures have advantages and disadvantages. It seems to me that plastic surgeons seem to be more in favor of using chin implants while oral surgeons seem to be more of the school of sliding genioplasty.

You have a somewhat deep mentolabial fold and moving the chin down 5 mm will diminish the fold. If he is moving it forward 5 mm then the effects on the mentolabial fold will provide a good balance. You may need an advancement of 6-7 mm.
