Answer: Recommend doing laser treatment to help even out skin texture. Applying a small amount of filler can also help Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Laser Resurfacing Hello esthermbou12! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Shah Facial Plastics. Based on your concerns, I recommend trying a CO2 laser resurfacing treatment such as Coolpeel, or, trying the Erbium laser to target the scars. However, I highly recommend scheduling an in-person consultation in order to better assess the areas of concern and discuss an appropriate treatment plan to help achieve your aesthetic goals. Our office phone number is: (312) 944-0117. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: Subcision Works Well For Elevating & Smoothing Indented Scars From All Causes In All Skin Types Both the boxcar scars and the traumatic nasal scar are indented scars. Subcision, a technique that I have been routinely since 1995, has a long track record for safety and efficacy in all skin types for elevating and smoothing all kinds of indented scars, whether from acne, trauma, surgery or chickenpox. You will no doubt be offered all kinds of expensive, "bells and whistles" fraxel laser or RF device treatments for the boxcar scars and possibly surgical revision for the nasal traumatic scar. I would suggest exercising a great deal of "buyer beware" caution in considering these. For one, the hard science to support the use of the devices unfortunately since lags well behind the heavy marketing and social media buzz for them. In addition, they may pose a risk for dyspigmentation, particularly in skin of color. Surgical scar revisions, particularly in areas subject to a great deal of movement or static tension (such as the nose) can result in the development of unsightly stretch scars and even tram track stitch marks. You would be wise to make sure to consult an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.
