Good Morning! Thanks for your question. It could very well be rosacea which can flare with changes in inflammation nearby. If the blood supply is good (i.e. no vascular compromise), that's important. Infection often presents with tenderness, redness, swelling, and non-improving symptoms including possible fever. An antibiotic course may be worthwhile. Or, a topical steroid cream to reduce inflammation versus something taken by mouth. I would revisit with your doctor to ensure this resolves. Hope this helps!
