Invisalign Mid-Treatment Overcorrection Inquiry

Question

In the middle of refining my lower arch, however started seeing signs of relapse/residual gap on my top arch due to a loose contact but the passive trays are helping maintain the contact for now as we resolve the bottom. I requested my dentist to order over correction trays for upper arch to prevent further relapse but got told it will require a new clincheck which I’l have to pay for again. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate or is it possible to order it mid-treatment on the same plan?

Hello there! In response to your question, "is it accurate that I will have to pay for a new ClinCheck?" The answer is, it depends on the package you were given. Invisalign provides a variety of packages, each of which includes a different number of trays and refinements. To further complicate matters, these packages are constantly evolving as Invisalign tries to be more competitive with their pricing. Consequently, some packages include refinements, and others do not. The package your dentist / orthodontist selects is based on the presumed complexity of your case. Unfortunately, orthodontics is not an exact science, so it is always a bit of a gamble when we are determining which package to use for each case. If your dentist is charging for a new ClinCheck, my assumption is that they selected a package that did not include additional refinements.
