I’m 18, I Had braces and used to have big buck teeth, my chin is behind my bottom lip and so I’m wondering if that means it’s not normal and if so what I should do about it
Answer: Chin implant surgery or chin fillers. Based on your singular profile photo, you appear to have a bit of a weak chin appearance. There is nothing abnormal about this, however, if you are dissatisfied with your profile appearance, chin implant surgery could be considered. Injectable fillers may also be considered, however, there are some inherent problems associated with fillers, in general. Please consider meeting with a reputable facial plastic surgeon so you could see what to expect after either procedure. Computer Imaging may be helpful for setting expectations. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Evaluating and Enhancing Chin Appearance: Options and Considerations When evaluating whether a chin is weak, receding, or simply small, it's important to consider the overall balance and proportions of your facial features. A chin that appears behind the bottom lip can sometimes indicate a receding chin, which is a common concern. Here are a few steps you could consider: Consultation with a Specialist: Schedule an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon or a dermatologist who specializes in facial aesthetics. They can provide a professional assessment of your facial structure and offer personalized advice. Orthodontic Evaluation: Since you mentioned having braces in the past, consulting with your orthodontist might be beneficial. They can assess if any bite issues are contributing to the appearance of your chin. Non-Surgical Options: Dermal fillers can be used to enhance the chin temporarily, providing an opportunity to see how a more pronounced chin might alter your appearance. Surgical Options: If a more permanent solution is desired, procedures like chin augmentation (genioplasty) can be considered. This involves placing an implant or reshaping the bone to improve chin projection. Consider Overall Facial Harmony: It's important to evaluate how changes to your chin might affect the balance of your facial features. A specialist can help guide you in making decisions that enhance overall facial harmony. Remember, the goal is to achieve a look that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Consulting with professionals will provide you with a range of options tailored to your specific needs.

Answer: Small Chin Thank you for your question and including a photo. Your chin looks 100% normal. If you are looking for the best profile appearance, a chin implant would improve your appearance. Chin implants can be put in through an incision inside of your mouth where your inner lip meets your jaw bone. That way there are no visible scars.
