Hi there! I haven't heard of Hyalase / hyaluronidase permanently ruining the lips. I suppose if done too aggressively and repetitively, it could cause deformity. It depends on how long ago the procedure was performed. It will take the lips time to readjust after dissolving of filler. Massaging may help during this process to smooth the lips. Continue follow-up closely with your physician for any concerning changes. Hope this helps.
Hi Laura,Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers as well as natural hyaluronic acid. It is best to be conservative with it when it is used to treat excess lip filler. Normally, in conservative doses there is no problem and original lip shape returns. I recommend waiting a few months before possibly refilling the lips if need be. Most important, be sure to choose your injecting physician very carefully. Good luck and be well.Michael Persky, MDEncino, CA
Filler reversal with hyaluronidase is quite common and has few side effects based on pharmacology. If you have hyaluronic acid in the tissue, the Hylenex will dissolve that material, regardless of the origin. Its best to be conservative and apply good technique.
