Hi Laura,Hyaluronidase breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers as well as natural hyaluronic acid. It is best to be conservative with it when it is used to treat excess lip filler. Normally, in conservative doses there is no problem and original lip shape returns. I recommend waiting a few months before possibly refilling the lips if need be. Most important, be sure to choose your injecting physician very carefully. Good luck and be well.Michael Persky, MDEncino, CA
Filler reversal with hyaluronidase is quite common and has few side effects based on pharmacology. If you have hyaluronic acid in the tissue, the Hylenex will dissolve that material, regardless of the origin. Its best to be conservative and apply good technique. Hi there! I haven't heard of Hyalase / hyaluronidase permanently ruining the lips. I suppose if done too aggressively and repetitively, it could cause deformity. It depends on how long ago the procedure was performed. It will take the lips time to readjust after dissolving of filler. Massaging may help during this process to smooth the lips. Continue follow-up closely with your physician for any concerning changes. Hope this helps.

Hi @Katcon! I recommend seeing a facial plastic surgeon to drain the abscess and take care of the infection prior to dissolving the filler with Hylenex. Best of luck to you!
Unless there was severing of the nerve, there is a chance that the nerve injury is temporary. I have not heard of Hylenex damaging nerves to date. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
Filler migration and permanence is a very common problem because there are many different types of HA fillers on the market and each is specified for a specific part of the face. Use of highly cohesive fillers on thin skin may cause swelling and nodularity. If patients have filler migration or...
Hi Charlotte! The irregularity at the lip border could be any of the things you mentioned. Most commonly, it is filler that collects in the area. Or, it could be inflammation. I have my patients monitor and massage the area for 2-3 weeks to see if improvement is made. If not, it becomes a...
