Hi my name is mya i’m 19 years old i would say im relatively slim and im 5’7. My chin has always been a problem for me as it sticks out like a sore thumb, and my question today is could botox and maybe filler fix this or will i need some sort of jaw or chin surgery. i’ve had braces in the past but i don’t think it’s helped at all with my chin/ jaw position. i would also like to mention that my chin/jaw bone structure is uneven as the right chin bone sticks out a lot further then my left . Finally, id like to mention that i had an over bite and underbite when i was younger which give me a lot of pain in my jaw and maybe be the reason my jaw/ chin is this way , thank u

Botox can soften certain chin issues, but it cannot change bone position or correct true asymmetry. Based on what you describe, surgery or orthodontic‑surgical evaluation may ultimately be the definitive solution.

Here’s how to think about your options:

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA)
 -Works only on muscle, not bone
- Helpful if the chin looks pointy due to overactive mentalis muscle (chin dimpling, puckering, “peach pit” texture)
- Can slightly relax upward pull and make the chin appear smoother, but will not shorten, move, or rebalance an uneven chin bone
- Temporary (3–4 months)

Dermal filler
- Can camouflage mild asymmetry by adding volume strategically
- Does not reduce projection—it adds volume, which can actually make a prominent chin look worse if not carefully done
- Best used only after a precise in‑person assessment

When surgery becomes the best option
- True chin projection (“sticks out”)
- Right–left bony asymmetry
