This will depend on the type of thread used.  The Silhouette or barbed threads will produce a lifting effect instantly.  Some threads also stimulate collagen formation but this is a longer term effect that can take a few months.

The results of thread lifts are more subtle than surgery.  The duration of the result with a thread is likely to be much less than the surgical procedure.  You may undergo those procedures at the same time but I would normally recommend staging operations.
