I have a new crown that is loose. It has play in it. Please read my concise details below

Occasionally, after a root
canal, a post is placed into the canal of the tooth. Not sure if this is true
in your case, but if it is, there is a possibility that the post is loose. Hyper-occlusion (heavy hitting of the
opposing tooth) may cause a loosening of the post, and therefore, crown
movement. If the crown does not fit, it
would most likely come off, not move around.
Continue to follow up with your dentist, I am sure that the real cause
will be determined and corrected.

It is difficult to give you an exact answer to your question without an exam. It is not normal for a crown to be loose. It may be that the tooth itself has become loose. This is usually due to too much biting pressure on the tooth. A simple bite adjustment may correct the problem. The other possibility is that the post or buildup itself may be loose. This is more difficult to correct. It may actually require removal of the new crown and recementation of the post then replacement of the crown. I suggest visiting the dentist to confirm which problem you have.

It sounds like you're either correct about the crown itself being loose, Or, The tooth is becoming loose because of your bite called fremitis. All he or she would have to do is adjust your bite on that crown and it should fix itself. If the crown is loose, try to grab it with a dry rag or paper towel and try to pull it off. Don't pull too hard, and stop if it had any pain as you don't want to pull out your tooth! There's also a chance the tooth is broken and taking off the crown wouldn't hurt, but then you'd have to plan on getting the tooth extracted.So, there are a lot of possibilities. If your dentist isn't fixing it, find another!
