Should my crown be sensitive after a cleaning?

I just had my teeth cleaned. I have a crown (no root canal) that is now sensitive to hot and cold....more so to cold. What could be causing this since I never had an issue until I got my teeth cleaned?

Sometimes with the cleaning, you can have sensitivity in your teeth a few days. But if the sensitivity continue for more days, you need to go to check the crown, maybe is no sealing right and you need to change.

Teeth can often feel temporarily sensitive after a dental cleaning. The plaque and tartar covering the tooth protected it from exposure to hot and cold stimulus. However, when removed in a dental cleaning the exposed tooth below can become hypersensitive. If the sensitivity persists you should be seen by your doctor to rule out recurrent cavity under your existing crown. If the pain worsens or comes on unprovoked by hot or cold, as in you are doing nothing and you feel the ache, see your doctor sooner.

The sensitivity you are experiencing may only be temporary because of the removal of tartar and plaque which kind of insulated the root.  If sensitivity persists, see your dentist.
