Sorry to hear about your unfortunate circumstance. It always happens at the worst times. If you can get to a dentist to have the broken wire removed or smoothed so it doesn't irritate you, that would be the best option. 

In the long term you will want to have a new one placed as the teeth can relapse into improper position without the wire to retain there alignment. 

I wouldn't recommend trying to cut it or pull it off yourself. You may hurt yourself in the process. If it is poking you there are products like orthodontic wax you can get at a drug store to place over the exposed sharp wire so it doesn't rub against your tongue and tissue. 

It appears in the photo that the tooth has broke off at or below the gums. Your dentist has probably told you the tooth is non-restorable. If there is cavity or there is a break very deep, close to the bone level, the tooth cannot be fixed. Trying to restore something with so much tooth loss would be a great financial investment into a tooth with a poor prognosis. You would be better off investing in a more predictable treatment solution of an implant or bridge.

Implants are great options to replace a single missing tooth. They act as a free standing tooth with an artificial root. However if your teeth on either side of the missing one have been previously crowned a bridge is another good option since the teeth have already been shaved down. The two adjacent crowns would need to be removed and a 3 unit bridge cemented instead. 

It seems your tooth has broken significantly and the root portion remains in the gum and bone. An x-ray and exam will determine whether the tooth is restorable. If the tooth has lost too much structure or is cracked too significantly the tooth may need to be removed. However, if there is enough remaining tooth structure the tooth may be able to be restored. Ideally after being rebuilt with filling material a crown should be placed. This will help protect the tooth from breaking again. 

Should the tooth need to come out there are several replacement options ranging from a removable denture, a permanent cemented bridge, or a single implant. In the mean time try to stay off of the area to prevent any further breakage until it can be restored.

It may be that you had two pins placed in your tooth. Pins are small post like structures placed into your tooth where there is significant loss of structure. They help hold in your filling or crown build up. They can be placed in vital teeth without root canals as they are placed into the tooth dentin away from the nerve.

Posts however are longer structures placed into the root canal system of a tooth so it does require a root canal to have been done first. This is used when a root canal treated tooth has minimal tooth structure left and again functions to hold in the filling build up and eventually the crown over top.

The first thing to check would be if the new crown was putting pressure on the adjacent tooth and the contact between the two teeth is tight. The way to check
that would be to see if floss can pass easily through. To correct this issue your dentist can loosen the contact between the two by using sanding strips to remove some of the crowns width or a new filling could be done on the adjacent tooth to create a looser contact.

If this not the issue, you should have your dentist examine the area as there could be many possible causes for your symptoms.
