For the last moth I been having a lot of trouble breathing and now I can bearly see, I been feeling dizzy, without energy, memory loss, vertigo, etc. I been a summited to different blood work exams, X-Rays, CAT, CT, I’ve seen cardiologist, endocrinologist, etc. And they don’t seem to find anything. I am getting worst with time and I don’t know what to do any more. I feel some pinching in both of my breast that I am thinking it can be my breast implants.
Answer: Prob not the implants Contrary to what you might read on the Internet nowadays, it is probably not your implants. You’ve had an initial work up and they haven’t been able to find anything but there are still some very rare strange things out there. I’ve had a patient have Lymes disease undiagnosed for a long time. You may want to see a rheumatologist as well. But those of us in the plastic surgery community think it is pretty unlikely that it would be your implants.

Answer: Allergic Reaction To Implants! Thanks for your question!based upon my experience of doing thousands of breast augmentation surgeries, I HIGHLY doubt that you are having an allergic reaction to your silicone implants: they are one of the most biologically inert (non allergic, non reactive) substances on earth, which is the reason why silicone was chosen as the material to fill gel implants (that & the fact that they are soft) in the first place. I’d recommend, at 4 month’s post op, to see an allergist. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Not feeling well after breast augmentation Thank you for your question and I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. There is no good evidence that breast implants lead to systemic changes in your body, induing some of the symptoms that you described. Your surgeon that placed them in January can help guide your and make sure that there is no issues with the implants themselves and can evaluate the pinching sensation that you are describing. Silicone has been implanted into the body for years and has been studied extensively for reactions and has continued to be proven to be safe from a whole body standpoint (even saline implants have a silicone shell). That being said, if you are concerned, you can certainty have them removed and at least take that variable out of the equation while you are being evaluated for some of your health complaints. Although there is no link that I am aware of, certainly you may be able to find some stories on the internet of women that have had similar complaints after breast augmentation, that have resolved after implant removal. They can always be re-implanted later should you desire. Best wishes for improved health. Dr. Hustak

Answer: Allergic to implants? Thank you for your question. It sounds like you have a lot going on over the last month. It is unlikely to be due to your implants since you have had them for 4 months and your symptoms have only been for the last month.. I would see an allergist for some of your symptom and I would also schedule a follow up to discuss with your plastic surgeon to discuss the pinching you are feeling. Best Wishes!
