Does Dysport ever completely leave your system?

Question

70 units in forehead and center of brows. Love the look, but stiff neck 11 days later. Not completely numb but to touch back of neck, throat, and entire back feels somewhat like what it did when I an epidural and it was wearing off? please advise

Thank you for your question. It is not common for Dysport or Botox to have distant effects. Especially at the dosing that you received. I would recommend that you revisit with your injector, make sure that your results are appropriate. If your symptoms persist you may want to visit primary care physician.

It is very uncommon for 70 units of either Botox or Dysport to cause any symptoms like you are describing.  I suggest visiting your general physician or emergency room if you feel you have change in swallowing or shortness of breath.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The effects of the Dysport are totally in line with other botulinum toxin products like Xeomin and Botox.  There is a poster on Realself who has posted numerous times on this site.  These posts are hard to reconcile with the experience reported for Dysport.  These drugs are very similar clinically.  Sorry you are having a potential side effect of treatment.  I would caution you about having retreatment with any other botulinum toxin product.  You are likely just an idiosyncratic responder.  Typically the effects are all gone in 4 months and also commonly the side effects wear off generally much sooner.

It is very unlikely that the effects you're describing in your neck throat and back are related to your dysport injections.  I would recommend seeing your physician to determine whether you have another underlying cause for these symptoms.

Please schedule a follow up appointment with your injector. You can get
muscle weakness at sites distant from the injection.
