Do you see immediate results from laser resurfacing and when do you see the full results please?

I'm on day 7 of laser resurfacing and after having an infection under my eyes antibiotics have helped a great deal. I had 2 lines on my top lip and they are still there is this the norm please?

For the first few days after a laser resurfacing people are happy because the swelling from the procedure will help the lines and wrinkles.  Once the swelling goes down, you are often back to your baseline.  The new collagen production which is stimulated by the laser starts at about one months after the treatment and continues for several months.  So you are way too early to notice the improvements.

It can take several months and sometimes longer to see the full results after laser resurfacing of the face.  You would not be able to judge your results 7 days after the procedure.

Laser resurfacing results in a superficial burn that needs to heal. During healing, collagen remodels over the next four to six months. Your skin will have a pink hue during the early healing period as new blood flows to provide the oxygen necessary for healing. The lip lines may not disappear, because the skin can follow the contours of the deeper tissue, but laser is a good way to improve lip lines. Sometimes after laser resurfacing, patients with deep lip lines get filler and/or Botox to soften the lip lines further. Discuss what you can expect with the doctor who performed your laser. Depending on the laser used it can take up to 6 months for the full effect. One is stimulating collagen and that process is slow.  Some wrinkles, if deep enough, will not go away no matter how aggressive the laser is.  Have realistic expectations and hang in there in the postop period! Collagen stimulation will take about 90 days for you to see the benefits and the results will continue to improve for several months. Make sure you are protecting your newly resurfaced skin from sun exposure which breaks down collagen and avoid smoking. Your new skin will be fragile so you want to protect it.
