I have a dent in my butt from a hard fall. Will I need surgery to fix it? Is it fixable? Why did this happen? (photos)

Hello, I would recommend fat grafting to this area to fill the indentation. This likely occurred because you had an internal collection of blood, called a hematoma, which damaged the soft tissue permanently causing your indentation. I have treated patients with similar scarring with fat grafting successfully. Best of luck to you.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you would benefit from fat transfer. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Most likely then temptation formed due to tissue necrosis from the trauma. Most likely the blood supply to the fat was disrupted leading to death of the fat cells. During the healing process you must likely also develop the scar tissue that is pulling down on the skin.

This is going to be quite challenging to fix and most likely will require cutting out discard area and doing so will leave you with visible scars.

Simply adding volume with fat transfer or fillers is unlikely to restore the volume because of the scar tissue pulling in on the skin.

Be reluctant if someone tells you this is an easy fix by just adding fat or filler.

I’m not sure I would recommend trying to fix it because it will entail pretty extensive surgery that will leave visible scars.
