Hi, I am traveling to Lithuania to have Gastric Sleeve done. Both my daughter and I am doing it at the same time. Do you think I could travel/fly home 4 days after surgery ?

Traveling four days after gastric sleeve surgery is possible, but it depends on your recovery and the length of the flight. Many patients are cleared to fly within five to seven days, but some feel ready sooner, especially if the surgery is laparoscopic and without complications. However, flying too soon can increase the risk of blood clots, dehydration, and discomfort.
To minimize these risks, walking frequently during the flight, wearing compression stockings, staying hydrated, and taking pain medication if necessary can help. Sitting in an aisle seat can make movement easier, especially if you need frequent restroom breaks. If you are traveling internationally or taking a long-haul flight, it might be better to wait longer to ensure your body has enough time to recover. Checking with your surgeon for personalized advice is always a good idea.

To be sure you are okay for the flight, we need at least 7 days. After last examination on your 7th day, if everything is okay, you may go back to your country. Please pay attention to that case.

You are traveling quite a distance for Sleeve Surgery.  We have patients come from the US and Canada, but we also have patients come from all over the world.  For gastric sleeve surgery, most of our patients are discharged to go home 3 days after surgery to return home.  Just make sure you are as mobile as you can be, especially on long flights.

It is not safe to go on a long flight within 30days of bariatric surgery and should be avoided if at all possible. That being said there is some more leeway depending on your BMI and there are things you can do to minimize your risk. But the decision to fly should be carefully discussed with your surgeon and should never be done without a discussion with your surgeon.

Hey, is not safe for you to fly yet. You need at least 8 or 10 days, in case that you decide to go back home anyways, then you may firm a release letter for your doctor.I hope i´ve helped you
