How much donor zone miniaturization is normal?

Hello I was told that I was a good candidate for hair transplant surgery and that small miniaturization In donor zone is completely normal. I was wondering how much donor zone miniaturization is normal?

The limit for normal miniaturization in the donor area will reflect no more than 20% of the total number of hairs seen

If I am interpreting the candidates fear correctly. He is concerned about the donor area being noticeably thinner after a FUE harvesting procedure. In most cases a qualified candidate for this procedure will have at least a third of his hair present in the donor area, or approximately 30 to 50 thousand hairs to harvest from. Even if we do a 3000 graft FUE procedure that will only thin out the area by approximately 6000 hairs which isn't going to be noticable taken away from 30,000 hairs. If during the examination to qualify a patient we find that his donor area is thin or thinning then there will be the possibility that the harvesting will make a noticable change and it is our obligation to inform the patient of this.
