Pursuing orthodontic treatment before having implants placed is a great idea!  This way, the orthodontist can work with your general dentist to create a solid occlusion (bite) and ideal spacing for the implants.  One of the nice benefits of Invisalign is that your orthodontist can incorporate pontics, or "fake teeth" into the aligners.  You won't be able to wear your denture with the aligners, but the aligner should essentially function as your denture during treatment.  You generally need to remove them during eating or drinking anything other than water, but in some instances it may be ok to leave them in occasionally while eating (ie, you're having a lunch meeting and don't want to take your teeth out!).  Doing this too often can discolor or damage the aligners, so you need to be careful.  
There are many wonderful orthodontists in the Des Moines area who will take good care of you, just be sure that you're visiting a specialist in orthodontics; this means he/she has completed a 2-3 year residency program in orthodontics and limits his/her practice to orthodontics only (the same doctor will not do your ortho and your implants or other fillings).
