Why haven't my eyebrows grown back from having them shaved over 5 years ago? (photos)

Question

I had my eyebrows halfway shaved off about 5 years ago by my step sister and I have never plucked them. I used to have full eyebrows and since they were shaved they have not grown back fully. Are the hairs's roots dead or something because 5 years is a long time for eyebrows to grow. And any recommendations for growing them back without having to get my eyebrows done by a professional person? Thank you.

I would suggest a formal consultation to evaluate the reasoning behind your hair loss. Transplantation or PRP/progesterone injections are commonly used for facial hair loss.  Please see an expert.  Best, Dr. Emer

It appears that with this time scale that the Hair certainly wont be growing back as the hair should have grown back between 3-7 months after your brother shaved them off. Although non surgical treatments can help you would need to have the hair follicle in place first, so you could either look to have some Pigmentation/Tattoo in that area or consult a Hair Transplant Surgeon and have your Eyebrows replaced using a Surgical method.

have a male model client who opted to just apply mascara on the lateral brows
as there were some hypopigmented hairs in the lateral brow.  This was his short term answer.  Some of my patients tried Latisse
successfully, but it all has to do with the type of your hair loss and you need
to be seen by a good hair transplant doctor. A brow transplant would offer a
more permanent solution.  This condition
is not uncommon with people with thyroid problems.  Just make sure your doctor checks your
thyroid hormones before proceeding with a hair transplant consultation.

Sometimes when people shave or pluck their eyebrows, the hair root is damaged and the eyebrow does not return. I don't know if anyone understands why this happens as it seems to be unique to eyebrows on some people. An eyebrow transplant can solve that problem
