I had it done and now I am freaked out that I have to do this every month or I will have a face full of stubble.

Thank you for your question in regards to dermaplaning. No, it is not something you have to commit to forever. Dermaplaning removes the top dead layer of skin cells, along with the vellus hairs (peach fuzz). Your hair may appear to feel a bit course once they start to grow back, but will return to the "peach fuzz" feel. Dermaplaning will not stimulate additional or worse hair growth. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Dermaplaning is an easy procedure where dead skin is removed from the epidermis, as well as vellus hair. Skin appears smoother, lessening the appearance of acne scarring, any sun damage or hyperpigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. Dermaplaning may be done as a stand alone treatment or to enhance another facial treatment, such as a brightening peel. Dermaplaning does NOT change the texture, color, pattern, etc of hair. The hair will regrow in the exact same way it was before the procedure. All skin types and colors can benefit from this non-invasive treatment.

This treatment does nothing to change the growth cycle of your hair but is being removed during the exfoliation of the dead epidermal layer of skin.

Your hair has just been brought down to the skins surface. For a short period of time, your hair will have a rougher texture until it grows out again. It does not stimulate new hair growth.

You do not have to continue dermaplaning treatments if you wish. Your skin will go back to its original state if you don't keep up with treatments.  However, you can get dermaplaning done monthly or bimonthly. It is just a manual way of exfoliating the skin to encourage new cell development.

No, once you have a dermaplaning treatment done you are not committed for the rest of your life. Typically, when the hair starts growing back, it will come back with a blunt edge feeling like "stubble." The blunt edge softens and the vellus hair will feel just as it did before you got the treatment. I hope this helps!
