I've had a hereditary chin Clift/dimple since I was a baby. This is a genetic feature that runs in my family. I've had many sessions of chin Botox and while it will improve all other movement dimples, this characteristic chin cleft is never resolved by it. I've been getting filler to improve my chin shape and deep collagen loss due to cystic acne, but have been told it isn't safe to fill my chin cleft due to the nature of it being a muscular genetic feature. Is this true? Please see photo.
Answer: Filler for chin dimple Thank you for the photos and your question. Hyaluronic Acid filler can safely be used to fill your chin cleft. For a more permanent solution, you may consider subcision and fat grafting. It is very important to go to a skilled facial plastic surgeon who has extensive understanding of facial anatomy. I hope this helps!

Answer: Can a Genetic Chin Dimple be Safely Injected with Dermal Filler? Thank you for your question regarding the possibility of injecting dermal filler into a genetic chin dimple. Assessment: You have a hereditary chin cleft/dimple that has been present since infancy. You have tried Botox to address other movement dimples, but it has not resolved the genetic chin cleft. You have also received filler for chin shape improvement and collagen loss due to cystic acne but were advised against filling the chin cleft due to its muscular and genetic nature. Chin Dimple and Dermal Fillers: Safety Concerns: It is generally safe to inject dermal fillers into a chin dimple, but the success and safety of the procedure depend on the specific anatomy and underlying structures of your chin. The chin cleft is often a result of the underlying muscle structure and fibrous attachments. This can make it more challenging to achieve a smooth and natural result with fillers alone. Procedure Considerations: A skilled and experienced injector can assess whether dermal fillers can be effectively used to improve the appearance of your chin cleft. The choice of filler, injection technique, and depth are critical factors in achieving the desired outcome. In some cases, a combination of treatments, including fillers and other modalities (such as subcision or laser treatments), might be necessary to achieve optimal results. Consultation with a Specialist: It is essential to have a detailed consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has experience in treating chin dimples. They can evaluate your specific case and discuss the potential benefits and limitations of using dermal fillers for your chin cleft. They can also explore alternative treatments if fillers are not suitable or if you are seeking a more permanent solution. Conclusion: While it is possible to inject dermal fillers into a genetic chin dimple, the outcome depends on individual anatomical factors. A thorough consultation with an experienced specialist is crucial to determine the best approach for your specific needs and to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. Best regards,

Answer: Subcision Works Well To Elevate & Smooth All Kinds Of Skin Indentations Subcision, which I have performing since 1995, is a time tested and proven simple, safe and effective method for permanently elevating all kinds of skin indentations, since it works by stimulating new, native collagen and elastic fiber synthesis. Since so many venues these days are into hawking this or that kind of expensive bells and whistles devices, like Fraxel lasers, RF gizmos, etc., you would be wise to do your due diligence to find an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist who regularly performs subcision for acne scars and other skin depressions. Best of luck.
