Hi,I recently receive my all porcelain crowns for my upper teeth and I hated them. They are too opaque. I genetically have translucent teeth especially on my uppers. I am going to meet the dentist at the dental lab next week. How can I explained in words what is wrong with the teeth? Do I show him the pictures? Do I tell him to make the sides and top part of the teeth translucent? Do you all see that the crowns are too opaque? Can you all tell which teeth are the crowns? Please give me feedback.

Answer: Dental Implant Crown Color Issue
Thank you for posting photos with your question. Yes your crowns are noticeable and your gum-line is quite uneven. You have what some people refer to as a "gummy smile". That means you show all of your teeth and a lot of gums when you smile. Your case is very difficult for even the best dentist to restore because you don't hide any of the imperfections with your lip. So the imperfections, which can not be hidden, are unnatural looking crowns and an uneven gum line. To attempt to solve these issues you might try gum re-contouring and new "all porcelain" crowns from canine to canine. I would get a referral from your dentist to a periodontist to discuss the gum re-contouring. You may be able to get the gums to come down on the lateral incisors by changing the abutment and crown position too. Definitely a good idea to meet with your dentist and lab technician. I am sure they want to try to make this right. In the future, ask your dentist to see the crowns before they cement them. You should have approved these to be permanently placed in your mouth. Hope this helps... good luck.
