To answer your question the ways available to make an implant drop are: no breast support, bands to wrap around the chest and force the implants downward and massage. The right answer for you is best defined by your surgeon who put the implants in.
I have read the other responses so far and agree with them.I believe breast massage really works! It makes sense to me. By applying regular pressure, the pocket stretches and the implants drop. It is important to do it correctly, however. I see people all the time who do it wrong. This won't help.Of coarse, give it time and check with your doctor.Good Luck!Dr Chris Saunders
Gravity, skin stretch, and gentle massage can all help implants drop into place. Of course if one has a textured device, they are placed where they should be and no massage is needed nor waiting for "settling". In my practice, no special bras or garments are needed, no massage is needed, no settling is required and patients can return to work and working out in 48 hours taking only ibuprofen. Find a cosmetic breast surgery specialist.
After surgery swelling will artificially support the volume of the implant. The implant will "drop" as swelling subsides. In my opinion the best thing is to leave the implants alone.
To help the implants drop after surgery I usually instruct my patients on how to do some massage exercises on a daily basis. In addition I usually have my patients wearing a strap on the upper portion of the breasts all the time regardless of the sports bra or surgical bra. The strap gives 24 hour compression to the upper part of the breasts and this in conjunction with the exercises/massages helps the implants drop into place. Your surgeon may have his own recommendations for you as well.
Your implants should drop over time, so patience is important. I would recommend talking with your surgeon to see what is recommended for your particular case. Perhaps you can ask about a breast band and massaging which is what we use in my practice when we want to speed up the implants dropping. ac
Waitingfor implants to drop and settle can feel very frustrating to say the least. However, it’s important to recognize that the reason seeing your final resultstakes several months is because the soft tissues and muscles of your breastarea need time to relax and adapt to your implants. The only way this willhappen is to let time pass, and allow your body’s natural healing processestake place. Some surgeons may recommend a compression band to wear just abovethe implants, while others suggest breast massage. It’s important to followyour surgeon’s post-op instructions and try to be patient.
Usually time is the key factor in seeing your implants descend into the pocket. If you have concerns it is best to ask your surgeon. Good luck.
Implants don't drop as much as the lower breast expands to allow the implant to sit properly in the breast pocket, with the point of projection directly behind the nipple. Some will say you might go without a bra, some will recommend a breast band which we happen to like. Over time the situation will sort itself out and the breast implant and breast tissue work together.
We typically forewarn our patients that time is the crucial factor in the healing process following any surgery, and we never allow the use of breast bands following breast augmentation due to the risk of implant malposition. For patients with textured implants, time is truly the only thing that will help your implants drop with minimal risk. However, for those that have non-textured implants, we recommend massaging the area frequently and doing small arm exercises regularly in order to allow the chest muscles the opportunity to adjust to the new implant.Best of luck in your healing process.
