Can a PFM crown be replaced with a gold crown?

You can do that if you would like, but I recommend a crown that is made with all porcelain . It will have a higher bond strength than metal.  Good luck.

I am just curious why would you want to replace it with gold as now a-days there so many latest technology porcelains, which mimic the straight, durability and wear of gold. Because of that, last time I placed gold crown was many years. ago.All the best to you.

Hi:Any crown can be replaced with another crown including a gold crown.  Just keep in mind that a gold crown can conduct hot and cold faster to the nerve of the tooth.Best.Dr. Maddahi
