I saw a board cert. Dr. for Botox. He put 25 units into my forehead & 11's. I developed large red lumps I've never had in prior treatments. After 3wks I had no results and went back. I was under the impression that the Dr. would reinject but was met with defense. I was talked into purchasing another 25units, all in my forehead. It's been 2 weeks. 50units total & maintain full range of motion. I'm scheduled for a follow up this Friday. Do I request he stand by his work or move on?
Answer: Resistance to Botox I am not sure its resistance to Botox, but its something to consider. It could simply be the batch that he tried using. Especially since it seems you have used Botox before and didn't have this reaction. I would consider trying one last time, possibly with a different injector. If he offers to do it for free, then I would consider sticking with the same injector. Sometimes the Botox rep can help and provide a sample for patients that don't respond appropriately to the medicine. Alternatively, you can try another product, like Dysport or Xeomin. Good Luck!

Answer: Multiple Botox injections with no results? It’s unfortunate you did not respond to Botox, you could be one of a few that does not respond to Botox or the Botox the injector used might be among a bad batch. I would consider trying a different injector and see what happens.

Answer: No results after multiple Botox treatments The results from a Botox treatment are dependent on the dosage used and the placement of the injections. I would consider a total of 25 units of Botox to treat the forehead and 11's a low dose. I understand you went back and had another 25 units placed in the forehead, and I would think that you should see a response from this. So, it is possible that the placement of the injections is the issue. I would return to the physician who treated you and discuss your concern and see what options he gives you.

Answer: Botox resistance If you truly did not respond to 50 units of Botox in your forehead and 11’s, and your injector used a different batch for your second treatment, you may be one of the unfortunate few who are Botox resistant. I would recommend that you wait for a full 14 days after your last injection and then do a follow up appt with your injector. If there is no improvement noted, it would be a best practice to offer to try a different neuromodulator such as Dysport at no cost, but office practice policies vary. Otherwise, i would try a different provider. Best wishes, Pamela Stuart, MD

Answer: Botox resistance A small number of the world population is completely resistant to all of the products like Botox. This may be the case with you. It is unfortunate but good luck from New York City
