I’ve seen various posters who received a chin augmentation say their doctor gave them a compression wrap to wear for a few days post surgery. My did not mention anything about it and I did not receive one. How important is wearing one post op? Will I not heal as quickly or correctly without it?
Answer: Headwrap after Chin Implant Each Doctor will have their own protocol regarding a head wrap. If you're concerned, I recommend following up with your surgeon. You may have swelling, which will slowly resolve over the next few months. I hope this helps.

Answer: Is a head wrap needed after chin augmentation? Each surgeon will have their own preferences for care after chin augmentation with an implant. A head wrap can be helpful but I would not say that it is necessary to achieve a good result. During the recovery period, the most important thing is to try not to bump or hit your chin.

Answer: I had a chin implant yesterday and doctor did not give me a head wrap? Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. I cover the chin area with steri-strips (reinforced tape) but don't use a compression type dressing or chin strap as this can place pressure along the wings (sides) of the chin implant which might lead to displacement. There are of course many ways to place silastic chin implants and you should follow your Chin Implant Surgeons protocol. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. Hope this helps.
