I am trying to decide between CO2 and Halo fractional, which is better and what is the difference?
Answer: Laser Resurfacing with Co2 versus Halo--Fraxel, Erbium, lasers, microneedling/prp, sculptra Fraxel and/or Co2 are best for resurfacing, but erbium is a good alternative. I always combine lasers with microneedling/prp for more robust outcomes. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Both are good Hello Swancjack, Good question. Both are very good in the right hands. However, the best results are derived from combination treatments. My preference is Co2. With it I can mix and match as appropriate to the needs of the patient and desired outcome. I recommend having a consult with a few providers. Those possessing an obvious breath and depth of services with a reasonable history of time performing such procedures are likely capable of providing you a very good outcome. Many states have lax laws regarding who can operate lasers and perform aesthetic procedures. Therefore, I also recommend you select a provider that has a physician on premises that takes an active hands on roll. If they say they have a Medical Director who is at another location, you may want to consider going else where. Lord forbid there is a complication and you're not able to obtain immediate and appropriate care. There's simply no way a laser nurse or technician can provide the same level of care and abilities to address problems as a MD or DO can. I'm not saying a nurse is less capable than a physician. There are indeed many that are better than some physicians I know. My concern is if a complication arises. Its' simply not worth the risk even if it is a lower cost facility. Good luck with your procedure. I wish you the very best outcome. Warmly, Arbella Sarkis, MD

Answer: Downtime vs outcome with HALO and CO2 lasers Huge difference, mainly in downtime. HALO is for superficial mild sun damage, downtime is 2-5 days depending on density. CO2 fractional in a high density setting will give you much better collagen stimulation, but redness maybe present for a few weeks to months, depending on the setting. Lasers are merely tools to help the specialist, the best way to achieve a great outcome is to understand your expectations, then tailor a plan (see someone who has HALO, Fractional Lasers, CO2, RF microneedling etc... ) this way they will advice you on the best treatment, not limiting to one or two devices. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim. Brisbane Australia.
