Will I ever be able to wear a VR headset after rhinoplasty?

That is very difficult question! It takes nasal bones to heal and become resistant to that type of pressure approximately 3 months. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If you were my patient, I would allow you to wear the Oculus 6 weeks after surgery. By six weeks, scar tissue is the strongest it will ever be, and the bones (if you had osteotomies) should have fused to the point where the weight wouldn't affect the outcome. That being said, swelling can take 9-12 months to completely resolve for you to appreciate the final product of your rhinoplasty. At this time, I couldn't say how much the VR headset would affect the resolution of swelling, but I imagine it would delay it. In any event, be sure to see a board eligible/board certified plastic surgeon!

Hello @Genuine384963 Yes you will be able to wear VR headsets again. From my perspective, I do not recommend patients to wear glasses during the first six months, because the inflammatory processes at the bone level when they receive permanent pressure from the glasses frame can generate some type of deformity in the bone healing process. VR headset have a bigger pressure than lenses so I suggest you wait as much time as you can (a surgical procedure takes a year to heal properly). However is important that you ask you plastic surgeon, with whom you have your surgery the recommendations for VR headsets. Best Wishes!
