Question

I had eyelid surgery several times. The scar I'm worried about is 1.5 year old. The corrective surgeons never touched it. So this is how it had been healing all this time. Can microneedling help and blend skin there? Its right near the eye corner. Or only laser will help?

At least from the photo provided, it appears that the scar is somewhat indented, as well as discolored. If so, then subcision would help to elevate and smooth the scar. Once done, then manual Dermastamp microneedling (no need for the added the expense and risks of RF microneedling) can be used ot better blend the surface of the treated scar in both color and surface texture with the surrounding normal skin. You would be wise to exercise a healthy dose of "buyer beware" when being hawked this or that fraxel laser or RF gizmos, as the hard science to support their use unfortunately lags woefully behind the heavy marketing hype and social media buzz that surrounds them. You would also be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist scar specialist. Best of luck.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.
