Congratulations on the success of your weight loss. I agree with the surgeons below. The "apron" of fat that you have discussed would best be treated by an abdominoplasty. If there are other areas of concern, those would best be addressed by surgical liposuction rather than coolsculpting. However, here at Stillwater Plastic Surgery, we encourage every patient to have all of these concerns discussed at their consultation appointment so every patient can receive their best possible outcome.
Congratulations on your weight loss Jeff! CoolSculpting will not treat the excess loose skin which results after massive weight loss. You will be better served by an abdominoplasty. Liposuction of any areas of fat can be done during your surgery. Hope this helps answer your question.
CoolSculpting can reduce fat but will not take care of excess skin on the abdomen. If you are planning on having an abdominoplasty, the excess skin and fat can be addressed at the same time during the procedure, so you shouldn't need to have CoolSculpting done.
CoolSculpting is not a weight loss method and in no way replaces diet and exercise. It also is not meant to help tighten loose skin. CoolSculpting targets the subcutaneous fat underneath the skin and not the internal visceral fat. Abdominoplasty will be a great treatment to get rid of the "apron" left over from your massive weight loss. Any excess fat or skin can be addressed during the surgery. CoolSculpting can be used for any additional sculpting needed post operation.
