My Dental Crown fell off and my dentist is not available right away. Will it beok to leave the tooth empty for 10 days?

It would be nice if you can put the crown back on with the temporary glue. The over-the-counter glue is usually a very weak glue and comes off easily. It would keep the tooth covered and the bite would be stable. Since the tooth had a root canal, there won't be any pain. Be cautious not to chew on it whether you put the crown back on or not. You don't want to put any pressure on the tooth that can break it!

Thank you for your question. Teeth naturally move whatever slightly and whenever there is nothing to hold them in place, they move more. 10 days is too long to be witrhout a temporary crown. In my experience teeth will shift and it will be much more diffuicult for your dentist to deliver your permanent crown. I would recommend to buy a temporary dental cement at any pharmacy and glue the temporary crown back the best you can. 

If there is no pain then then urgency to seat the crown is less. It would be nice to have the crown cemented sooner because the tooth without the crown and the surrounding teeth can shift around during that length of time. At the very least it will mean that the crown will need adjusting prior to cementing permanently. It also means that the gums may grow over the margin of the tooth thereby making cementation more difficult. 

It is not advisable to leave the crown off for that length of time. Use the temporary cement, place the crown back on gently, keep the area as clean as you can and avoid biting down with the tooth. Try and get an appointment with another dentist if possible. Good luck!

If you have no pain or bleeding I think the tooth already had a root canal and it is okay to leave the crown out but you need to keep the area clean as usual.  If you are afraid that the tooth will break due to the history of root canal therapy.  You can temporary cement the crown with tooth paste.  What you need to do is clean the stump of the tooth and the crown well, keep both of them dry. Put small amount of tooth paste in the crown then put on the stump of the tooth.  It will stay there for a while.  Be careful don't chew anything sticky on it or sticky food can pull the crow out then you have to "recement" it with tooth paste again.Ian Pham, DMDTualatin, OR

Teeth have noticeable movement after 8 days. See if maybe another dentist could help you out.....if the crown is not put in exactly as it should it could cause bite and joint pain

I recommend that you do not try to recement your crown back into place.  You could very easily and inadvertently create more of a problem than you are trying to correct.If your dentist cannot see you for a substantial period of time then I suggest you call his office and find out who is covering for him while he is out of the office.  Either go to that dentist, or find another dentist who will recment your crown for you.  This is not an uncommon occurrence, and it would certainly be better for you to have your crown properly recemented sooner rather than later.
