Well, I have a very crooked smile. I'm 15 years old, and it just annoys me every time I laugh, cause then the left side just keeps going down, and I can't get the other side of my mouth down.. Oh and the side where my underlip is going down, them when I smile that side is going more up, than my other side of my smile? When i smile I'm trying to not get my underlip down, but when i laugh a lot it is kind of hard. So is there some way to fix this? It would be very helpful. Thanks.
Answer: Crooked smile... From the sounds of things, you need to consult a plastic surgeon on this site. He or she can help with possibly using Botox to make the more active side less active. I don't that you would require surgery for this. Sarah Thompson, DMD

Answer: Uneven lip pull To me , it looks like a neuromuscular problem with your left side being more active.Botox injection to the over active side may reduce this affect. But 15yrs age is little too early. Consult a good Maxillofacial surgeon in your area and he or she may guide you. Good luck.

Answer: You're too young to live with That problem! You are correct, that you can't find a comfortable resting place for your teeth, which force your smile to be pulled with them. A consultation with an orthodontist will probably very quickly put you at ease and tell you the solution to your problem. I cannot tell by a photo alone what is the exact problem, but I would watch while you slid your lower jaw side to side to see how the teeth fit, or don't fit together. Some type of braces will probably be the treatment needed, unless you have a true skeletal abnormality, which means either of your jaws is misshaped. The orthodontist can diagnose all of that fairly quickly, and give you an idea as to the solution. There IS a solution. Botox for a 15 year old? I think that is not indicated, nor is it looking at the source of the problem. My hope is that it is a simple treatment with braces and you're on your way.

Answer: Possibilities to treat your concern for an assymetric smile Thank you for your question. I think overall you have pretty teeth and a healthy looking smile. I see that your lower lip does have assymetric muscle pull when you smile. If this bothers you, there are options to improve the beauty of your smile. Sometimes a patient has tendons called frenums that pull excessively on the lip and this can be addressed with a procedure to help even out the muscle pull. Othertimes this type of situation can be caused by other facial symmetry issues. Have a consult with a aesthetic dentist in your area to get an evaluation of your particular situation. Good luck and best wishes.
