Taking zinc for an otherwise healthy person with healthy, balanced diet will not help with healing. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
Unless you have a zinc deficiency (very rare), there is no benefit to supplements in healing after surgery.
Your will heal just fine without taking zinc. Your body has plenty of zinc. You waste your money with things such as this. If you really want to take it go ahead. It will neither help or hurt you. The guy selling the zinc will be most appreciative all the way to the bank. In 30 plus years of surgery including 3 years in 3rd world countries, I have never seen a zine deficiency. The average American diet gives you all you need. If you really like the idea of taking a supplement simply go to Walmart or Costco and but their generic multivitamin-minerals. This will give you everything you need including zinc. My Best, Dr C
