IPL for acne removal? (with adapalene and BP 2.5 gel)

Can I also use an IPL gun that I bought for hair removal for acne? I'm having adult acne breakouts due to testosterone injections and it's getting bad. I just started using adapalene gel followed by BP 2.5% gel as topical...can I use the IPL on top of that? I want to make sure I'm not doing more harm than good. Dermo is recommending Accutane, but I'm trying to at least attempt other routes first.
