No planks for a year post BA?

Question

I knew that I would have to stay away from push ups for 6 months to a year, but planks too? Lots of the workouts in insanity are done in a plank position and I DO NOT want to jeopardize my results. My 4 week app is in 2 weeks and I plan on asking my surgeon 1,000 questions.

Healing and exercise after breast augmentationYou should follow the advice of your surgeon or they wont take responsiblity for how you are healing.I generally allow my patients to increase activity as the feel comfortable, most resuming full activity by 6 weeks.

Generally, I allow my patients to resume light exercise at 4 weeks, with gradually increasing amounts until they reach full activity after a couple of weeks.  I have them start out slowly to see how they feel and can add time and reps on a daily basis, without creating discomfort.

Every physician has their own preferences on delay of physical activity.  I too wait 6 weeks (probably because I trained under Dr. Seckel), but this is a very common timeframe. Sometimes longer delays can be recommended based on your particularanatomy or   what procedure wasperformed. For the best results, go with your surgeon's guidance.

Of course you need to follow the specific advice of your board certified plastic surgeon regarding exercising your chest after breast augmentation surgery.That said I usually ask patients who have sub-muscular breast augmentation to wait 6 weeks before doing pushups.  Planks are less stressful in my opinion on the breast implant then pushups.  However you must follow the advice of your plastic surgeon.
