I've had my braces for about 7 months now. I need a total of 2 years. Some of my teeth are un-even and chipped. I supposed I have a minor gummy smile. I've always wanted a big beautiful broad smile since forever. I was wondering if I can get the gum lift on the same day as my braces are removed to just get everything over with.
Answer: Gum lift You still have 1.5 year to go !you should not rush into any treatment. Once your braces come off , you should wait abit for everything to settle. Sometimes you might have inflammed ( puffy) gums. Which will resolve once your braces are off and you get a better access to clean your teeth. then see a periodontist , have them evaluate the situation. At that point the surgeon can better assess how much tissue to remove ( gum lift) good luck

Answer: Gum lift on same day as braces removal Yes, you can do this. However, you should give yourself a chance to see how you like your new teeth before going right under the knife. Take a breather from dental work and see what you would like to change first. You may decide to do nothing. Also, you won't be able to take too much gums away because your teeth have mostly erupted and you would be at risk of exposing your roots which lead to serious problems. So take your time and see a few Periodontists until you are satisfied.

Answer: Wait on the Gum Lift You are certainly planning ahead, Summerbaby305. Good for you. But I will caution against having a gum lift the same day you have braces removed, or even soon after. Brushing and flossing while your braces are on will help maintain the health of your gums, but there still may be some inflammation and puffiness after getting your braces off. Find an experienced cosmetic dentist and schedule a consultation to learn about your options for correcting a gummy smile.

Answer: Same Day Gum Lift No gum lift the same day. While you are in braces, brush and floss your teeth twice a day for at least 5 minutes to prevent inflammation of the gums. Once the braces are removed, seek out a cosmetic dentist to evaluate your smile and hear what your desires are. You did not mention your age, I'm assuming you are an adult between 18 and 20 when you seek out a cosmetic dentist. Anyway, the cosmetic dentist can evaluate the position of the gum line, the length and size of your teeth in proportion to your face and determine if a gum lift is necessary at that time. You may also need to consider porcelain veneers in order to reach your expectations for your smile. Either way, you must have immaculate home care for any cosmetic dentist to work on you because the results will be flawed if you have inflamed or bleeding gums during treatment.Hank D.
