There is no lower or upper age limit for CoolSculpting in healthy adults. Generally, we do not treat children (under age 18) with cryolipolysis, as their bodies have not finished growing. However, there may be exceptions. Anyone under 18 would require parental consent. CoolSculpting is a fast, minimally invasive way of eliminating stubborn pockets of fat with very little to no downtime and minimal side effects. Please consult a board-certified dermatologist to find out if you are a candidate for CoolSculpting.
Every medical practice might have their own protocol, but 18 is the typical minimum age or else you would need your parents consent.
While legally someone who is 18 years old can give consent to undergo a medical procedure, I strongly encourage parental guidance and input in teenage patients who requests CoolSculpting. I have treated patients as young as 19 years old with excellent results but it is especially important when working young people to make sure that their expectations and motivations are appropriate.
A patient needs to be at least 18 to sign an informed consent for any procedure, including CoolSculpting. You would need a consultation first to determine if you might be a good candidate for the treatment or not.
Thank you for your question! Coolsculpting is a fabulous procedure. I have had patients doing cool sculpting from age 18 to 80 who are in good health. The most important thing to keep in mind when doing this procedure is the importance of continued diet and exercise to maintain the great effects of the procedure. Best of luck!
