A Mid forehead lift is not a procedure used commonly today. Modern advances in endoscopic surgery have allowed the forehead to be lifted through small incisions hidden behind the hairline. The Mid forehead lift incisions have the potential to leave visible scars.
The Mid forehead lift is not a commonly used technique. The typical candidate is one who has very deep lines in a very heavily aged forehead. The problem with the mid forehead lift is that it leaves a scar in the middle of the forehead. This is generally undesirable. There are many more modern, less visible options such as an endoscopic forehead lift, a hairline incision forehead lift, a temporal brow lift, and a coronal incision lift.
While it works well to lift the brow, very few people want to have the scar that you get with this surgery. I did a few early in my career, but stopped because I didn't like the scar. The ONLY patients I would consider this for is someone who has no brow hair (so can't do direct brow) and very deep forehead lines already. For that patient, you can create a scar that should look like one of the deep forehead lines. But even then it may be noticeable. Explore every other option first.
A mid forehead lift can give good results but the main issue is the healing of the scar. If the incision is placed within an existing skin crease, these scars can eventually be very inconspicuous. It can take 6-12 months for the scar to heal fully. This procedure is really reserved for people who would not be good candidates for one of the other forehead lift approaches with more hidden scars.
This is not a common procedure. However, it is sometimes the best option for males with male-pattern hair loss and deep forehead wrinkles. After the incisions heal, they look like regular forehead wrinkles/lines.
This is a common procedure. It is typically used for patients that have deep lines on the forehead. These help to hide and camouflage the scar. The incisions can be red for several months but this is less of an issue in a person with deep forehead lines. The nice thing about browlift procedures is that there are many options depending upon the severity of brow droop, symmetry, hairline position and texture of the forehead skin. An experienced browlift surgeon will discuss the options and let you know which will work best for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
Ideally the incision is near the scalp to potentially hide the scar. With male pattern balding, it is sometimes hard to hide the scar. The mid forehead lift works very well but the scar is more conspicuous so it is not performed often. My office is in West Orange, NJ and I would be happy to give you a consultation.Best wishes
Before undergoing surgery, each person should decide whether a particular feature of their face or body bothers them enough to do something about it. The decision to undergo surgery should not be taken lightly. Nevertheless, when properly executed, plastic surgery can be an important adjunct...
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has their own guidelines and you should discuss this with them first. I have my esthetician wash all brow lift patients hair the day after surgery and I advise patients that they may shower and wash their hair daily if they want. I have never seen any...
Thank you for the photos. Usually a browlift is not indicated in someone your age. You do have some asymmetry. Please see a board certified plastic surgeon for an evaluation. He/she will see you with muscle movement. Together you will come up with a plan.
Thank you for reaching out. This is a common issue and many options exist. There are credit cards specifically designed for medical and cosmetic treatments, such as Care Credit and My Medical Loan. In addition, some plastic surgeons will offer payment plans directly. Best of luck moving forward!
