Microneedling: no difference after 4 treatments. I have pitted scars and box scars.

Question

I have completed 4 series of RF microneedling of 1 month interval each. But I couldn't see much difference. My doctor said that need one more treatment and it works on time . Will it cure of my acne scars? How long it will take to see result ? Or do I need to take any other treatment option?

Hi vishnumj, RF microneedling works by inducing collagen growth which can lift the skin from under so that scars, particularly acne scar appear more diminished. However, in cases where it has minimal results, you can opt for either a deep chemical peel or Fraxel, with or without hyaluronic fillers.Do remember to have active acne treated first.All the best,Justin Harper,M.D.

The best way to determine success or failure is objective. Side by side photos. Having said that, it does take 3-5 sessions spaced a month apart, with the best afters 2-3 months after the last session. A method should be used to direct treatment based upon scar types for the best results.
