CO2 Laser: Safe After Fat Grafting Under Eyes? (photo)

Question

4 months ago I had upper/lower bleph, fat transfer (FAMI technique), and CO2 laser resurfacing under eyes. I still have 1 big bag under my right eye. My doc wants to do another laser treatment to tighten area. Is this safe to do after fat transfer? Mark Glasgold, a fat transfer expert, recommended against this on another post, stating "There is no question that you may negatively impact the result of the fat graft with resurfacing," but other doctors disagree. Seeking other opinions.

Deep heating could theoretically damage the transferred fat.  CO2 resurfacing is a superficial laser and would not penetrate to the depth of the fat - no where near.  While it does create some swelling and inflammation in the area, this should not melt your fat.

There is no problem lasering after fat grafting as the laser does not go deep enough to impact the fats survival.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

Great Smile and Picture!The fat is normally placed deep to the skin and muscle and the laser affects only the superficial skin. Both techniques can help with the lids but in different ways.They are not mutually exclusive.
