1 year post-op, can a tummy tuck cause bowel incontinence?

tummy tuck will remove loose skin and tighten abdominal muscles but it will not affect your bowels. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to visit your doctor and get an examination.

Bowel incontinence is not expected or common after a tummy tuck. The surgeon does correct abdominal wall separation during the tummy tuck but this should not affect continence. I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns.

Hi and welcome to our forum!During pregnancy, the anterior rectus muscle of the abdomen may be splayed apart by the growing fetus, eventually developing into a residual abdominal bulge after delivery. During abdominoplasty, the anterior rectus muscles are repaired, tightening the abdominal wall. The abdominoplasty should not be the cause of fecal incontinence.Best wishes...
