Hello, I'm 47, and I have fine lines running along my tear troughs that branch out toward my cheeks. They are hereditary. I am currently using Retin-A at night. I was wondering if micro-needling would also be helpful. I have read other posts saying they have had changes in the skin surface or pock marks from the needles. Is this procedure safe and effective for the eye area? Thank you.
Answer: Micro-Needling HiYes Micro-needling is a great way to increase collagen and thickness of the skin. We use SkinPen at our clinic, its the only FdA approved device and enables us to treat right up to the lash line. Ideally a combination of treatments would provide best results. I suggest a course Exilis Skin Tightening.Hope this helps

Answer: Venus viva is microneedling combined with radio-frequency. It can help reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Our office has many different treatments for scars depending on the depth of atrophy or hypertrophy. Scars require a combination approach using our HI DEF protocol which uses a combination of lasers, topical scar modulation, and RF treatments to pixelate scars, improve contour, reduce hyperpigmentation, and improve the visibility of the scars so that they are no longer visible in ambient light. Everyone has a unique pattern of scarring and we employ our HIDEF technique to improve texture, color, contour, and topography. We often use a combination of treatments that begin with a careful examination to examine the micro texturing of the acne scars. Atrophic scars and indented scars can benefit from injectable fillers such as Radiesse, Sculptra, and Restylane with or without subcision to remove tethered scars and atrophic depression. Hyper-redness in scars can be improved with V beam laser, Excel V, BBL, IPL, and Venus RF to improve the redness and reduce the visibility of deep scars. Fractional Thulium laser and clear & brilliant can also reduce the inflammation and redness of the scar when combined with topical therapy. Fractional lasers such as Fraxel, erbium, and CO2 laser can be combined with radio frequency and also fractional RF to improve textual issues and microtopography. Subcision and TCA cross are also used for deep ice pick scars and narrow valley scars in order to improve the micro texture. Above all, our combination approach with our clinical nurses and board-certified plastic surgeons can improve the quality of your skin by using at home Melarase creams combined with PRP treatments in our office to improve your skin quality and tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced team of experts in order to reduce your scarring. Finally, hyperpigmentation of scars can be improved with at-home Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads to help reduce active PIH and melanin deposition. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Improving Wrinkles -- with Fillers, Botox, Sculptra, Ultherapy, Radiofrequency Lasers, Microneedling/PRP Wrinkles can be improved with a combination of Botox and/or fillers for the lines themselves and to build anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. Ultherapy is a great skin tightening device, but works best in combination with other treatments like RF treatments, lasers, microneedling/PRP or sculptra to get increased collagen, tightening and improve skin tone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Eye Hello there, I definitely would recommend starting some micro needling treatments for this area. I love that option because of how aggressive you can be, and how close you can get to the eyelash line. I also would recommend either Exilis Ultra or Ultherapy to address deep collagen and elastin in this area. A combination of treatments is always best. Micro needling is very very safe if utilized by an experienced provider. It also is important for post-treatment instructions to be followed and for skincare to be utilized. We use a Skinfuze skincare line that was made to use post-treatment to virtually remove any risks. Hope this helps. Sarah RN BSN

Answer: Lines around eyes Hello and thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the under eye area is one of the first places we start to lose collagen. The use of Retin A is a great addition to your skin care routine! But, if really wanting to attack those existing lines, filler/botox/resurfacing is a great place to start. Volbella for the under eye can really improve the loss of volume under the eye. Volbella is placed right where a tear would fall, the tear troughs. This would decrease the amount of hollowness and shadowing under the eye. This filler can last up to 9 months, for some longer. Next, a little botox for the crows feet and under the eye. This can open the eye a little and help control those stubborn fine lines under the eye. Finally, microneedling w/ platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an awesome choice for resurfacing, this will build collagen, tighten the skin and improve skin texture. Typically 3 sessions will give you a great result, you will need to do maintenance treatments after your series. Maybe 1-2 x per year to maintain the result. I hope this helps. Microneedling results depend on the person performing the procedure, technique is very important. Be sure you are going to an experienced, board certified provider to discuss your concerns and desired results. Good luck to you, hope this helps!
