A scar management will depend on your predisposition to bad scarring (usually it is another bad scar on your body). If there are no signs indicating that you are at risk for poor scarring then all you need will be wound protection for up to 10 days. Adjunctive treatments can be used such as scar massage, silicone gel pad scar treatment, or corticosteroid scar injections. Lightning cream and fractional laser treatment is also efficient..If you have light skin your chances to get very thin and almost invisible scars are very high, in case of proper post op care. The final result of any scar is as much down to how an individual patient heals as to how the surgery was performed. Scars look at there best from about 18 months and will normally fade to a silvery line but will never disappear. With an uplift you can occasionally develop stretched scars as there can be a lot of tension on the wounds. Scarring typically varies on the pigment of your skin mainly and what type of scar treatment you use. From my experience patients that are Caucasian tend to have lighter scars over Asian or Hispanic patients. Scars take months/years to fade. Even though initially some patients incisions look great right after surgery the incisions will become darker through out the first few months following surgery. The scar healing process goes through many phases in the healing. There is a maturation/strengthening phase and that is where the scar is healing and becomes darker. Eventually the scars should fade to a light pink or to a faint white color. If you are consistent with your scar therapy you will start to see the scar fade at the 6mo-1yr and even more as the years progress. What also plays a huge role in how your scars heal  post surgery is the amount of tension there is on the skin. With the breasts it is important to 1. not to go too big if you choose to use a implant (the weight of a large implant will put tension on the skin causing the scar the spread in time)  2. wearing good support is key. The more you support the breast the less tension there is on the skin= better scarring in the end.
